Logistics Information

The DC MIST competition will be hosted at the University of Maryland, College Park, primarily within the Adele H. Stamp Student Union and Jimenez Hall (right across the STAMP).​

Several parking options are available:​

  • Union Lane Garage: Positioned adjacent to the Stamp Student Union, this garage provides convenient access to the main venue. Parking is $4/hour.

The University hosts free parking on lots with black numbers and letters over the weekend. These lots are both about 5 minutes away from the venue.

  • Regents Drive Garage: Located a short walk from both the Stamp Student Union and Jimenez Hall, this garage offers ample parking space. Park on the 3rd floor, and a walkbridge exists that can give easy access to the STAMP student union

  • Lot 1 and Z: Located to the west of the STAMP, these lots are about a 5 minute walk from the STAMP and give easy access to leave the campus.

    PLEASE DO NOT PARK ON LOTS MARKED WITH RED LETTERING, THOSE ARE OFF LIMITS AND YOU WILL BE TICKETED!

Food

Regarding dining options, there are several Halal-friendly establishments in the vicinity:​

  • Moby Dick House of Kabob (located inside the STAMP Student Union)

The University also hosts 3 all-you-can-eat dining halls around it’s campus that serve zabiha options. Please look for labels with a blue HF (Halal Friendly) if using these options:

Lodging and Public Transit

Competitors participating in the DC MIST competition will be accommodated at The Hotel at the University of Maryland, conveniently located at 7777 Baltimore Avenue, College Park, MD 20740. This modern establishment offers upscale accommodations and is situated directly across from the University of Maryland's main entrance, providing easy access to the campus.

Proximity to Stamp Student Union:

The Adele H. Stamp Student Union, the primary venue for the competition, is approximately a 10-minute walk from The Hotel. Guests can exit The Hotel and head south on Baltimore Avenue (Route 1) towards Campus Drive. Upon reaching Campus Drive, they can turn right and proceed westward, entering the campus. The Stamp Student Union will be located on the right side of Campus Drive.

Shuttle Services:

While the walking route is straightforward, participants may also consider utilizing the university's Shuttle-UM services for added convenience . Shuttle-UM provides complimentary transportation around the campus and surrounding areas that can be utilized for food options. For real-time bus arrival information and route details, the Transit app is recommended to download.
