FAQ

Can I register for another team other than the one I attend?

  • No. You MUST compete with the school that you attend. Most competitions are individual competitions, and as a result you do not necessarily need a team to compete with them.

    Especially for smaller teams, you are able to work alongside other teams to prepare for projects, coordinate team colors, etc., but for the terms of competition, you will compete under the school you attend.

    We will be checking school IDs during on site registration at MIST. If you register for a school you do not attend, you will be disqualified (excluding homeschoolers or 8th graders).

Are there any competitions that I can combine with other teams for?

  • Yes. We do have opportunities to compete in competitions alongside other teams, known as coalitions! These competitions are:

    Category IV: Brackets
    Debate, Improv

    Category VI: Sports
    Basketball, Soccer, Flag Football, Volleyball

    For these competitions, you can combine between different schools, as long as you do not exceed capacity requirements for the team. Coalitions go based off size of the larger team (e.g: Soccer has a capacity of 10. School 1 has 9 people and School 2 has two people. Unless School 1 removes one member off their team, they cannot do a coalition.)

    If you would like to form a coalition, please fill out the form above or send an email to registration@dcmist.org with your team and the team you are doing a coalition with! Coalitions will be formalized two weeks before the sports weekend.

Can I compete only in sports?

  • No. If you are competing in any sports competition, you must be signed up for a non-sports competition as well.

    Not attending this competition will cause your team to lose points for your overall score.

Our school MSA/SGA/Masjid wants to help fund our team to go to MIST. How can we do this?

  • We are able to provide your team with an invoice with the total amount that your sponsor is covering. Once we receive payment, we will then generate coupon codes split amongst the whole team to take that amount off your registration (e.g: Masjid A covers 50% of the registration cost for your team, we will generate a coupon that takes 50% off your registration.)
